The beautiful art of Tassel making reached its height in 17th Century France when the opulent King Louis XIV showcased a flamboyant display of interior decadence at the Palace of Versailles.
Tassel making and Passementerie has once more become a sought after skill as todays designers of fashion and interiors use tassels as a decorative embellishment when creating traditional and modern glamour.
Participants will construct and assemble a substantial sized elegant tassel using the traditional wiring technique. The course will inclue how to cover a form ,make a skirt & ruff and assemble the tassel with a complex cord construction using high quality linen yarn in a beautiful range of colours. A contemporary feel will be incorporated by looking at moderrn trends, the use of crystal, wood and beading . How one might use passementerie to enhance both an eclectic interior and that of a more distinguished and sleek look.
