Suitable for those looking to improve their skills and embark on a commercial venture.
Faded grandeur, recreated and enriched, preserves the traditions of past French Interiors. In paying homage to the 'French style' we can replicate furniture which once richly decorated has been simply allowed to age in its own time.
There is a wide range of painted furniture to be found on our High Streets' and many ways in which it is being presented and marketed. All too often we see furniture that apears 'freshly painted and distressed' rather than appearing naturally aged with all the wonderful quirks and character that we long to see.
This exciting weekend concentrates on producing beautiful antique french finishes from golden ochres and faded whites to Provencal reds and Smokey greens. Advanced techniques will include distressing with oils, gilt finishes, crackleure, liming and antique glazes to produce a wonderfuly authentic & aged result. A Gilding session will also show how to use gold leaf as a beautiful embellishement to create that Parisian antique salon chic!
A new addition to this course is a demonstration on fine hand painted decoration. This will include beautiful scroll work and embellishment with gilded birds and floral designs.
Visiting one or two local shops and antique centres, we will observe practical and effective ways of presentation and discuss how we might be creative in designing a truly unique and fresh business approach. Effective marketing will also be discussed. A number of students who have attended this course have gone on to create very successful businesses.
The French flavour will be enhanced by serving croissants or pain au chocolat in the mornings and a light sit down lunch with wine. Delicieux!
