Beautiful handmade trims are a wonderful embellishment for all sorts of projects. From lampshades and upholstery to fashion and jewellery , from knitted throws to gorgeous handbags the list is endless!
This course involves students in the exploration of trimming and embellishment with an emphasis on design and application. Small lengths of trim will be designed using different techniques such as bias edging, ruffles and pleats, sequinning and beading, applique, basic fringing and corsages. With an endless array of ribbons, beads and glittery treasures you will be able to create something very individual .
We all remember rummaging through Grandma's treasure trove of a sewing box and unearthing wonderful treasures of amber, sapphire ,gold and silver. Bespoke trims allow us to introduce vintage elements to an item creating a very bespoke finish which can also be of sentimental value. Grandma would certainly be interested to see modern contemporary designs being produced using her old bit's & bob's!
