Suitable or those having completed the beginners day and are looking to improve their skills. Participants will learn how to get professional results by choosing the right techniques, selecting the right fabrics, trimmings and patterns. From bold velvet damasks to faded vintage florals.
A project will be started which will focus on a chair seat/back or piano stool (a sprung seat/ stuff over seat) The seat will be stripped (if not previously done) bottom webbed, tied in coil springs, hessian covered, stuffed & stitched, covered in calico and covered in the final fabric.
We will discuss current trends in upholstery by looking at different designs and see how we may effectively create a truly 'bespoke' item. Fabulous coloured & patterned stud work and funky trims can all add to produce a signature piece which will really impress! Advice on commercial enterprise and effective marketing will also be given.
Identify the beauty and potential of a tired piece of furniture and give it a new lease of life! Groups can go on to other courses such as deep buttoning, headboards and cushion chairs such as Bergere/wing chair.
