Beginners Upholstery

Beginners Upholstery - £125*

As featured in The Period Living Magazine - March 2007.

The art of upholstery is a time honoured craft which over the centuries has evolved into an important tradition of craftmanship and a decorative skill. This is a course suitable for those with little or no knowledge of the subject who would like to learn the traditional skills but add a modern twist!

Participants will learn how to get started and be introduced to the tools and equipment. Learn how to assess the work involved and calculate fabric quantities.

A project will be completed to a professional standard which will focus on a drop-in seat e.g. dining chair or footstool. The item will be re-webbed, hessian covered, stuffed, calico covered and then covered using beautiful designer fabrics such as Colefax & Fowler and/or Manuel Canovas.

Transform that junk shop find or indeed that precious heirloom!

Tutor: Simon Evans - Upholsterer/Designer
