On the 13th of January 1918 in Vienna, burglars broke into a painter's studio and helped themselves to its contents. They left behind one canvas.....The splayed out nude body of a young girl dominated one half and floating knotted figures decorated the other half.
Gustav Klimt had found his style but the rest of the world was not quite ready for these erotic images. His paintings bought together the themes of music, death, love and sex. Along with his nubile sexy women covered in flowers and gold, he painted undulating, evocative landscapes and was a highly successful portrait artist.
With Gustav Klimt as our inspiration, accompanied by modern photographic references we will use acrylics and gold leaf to paint a contemporay image that may startle the neighbours!
